Lend a Hand! Volunteers are an important part of the Children's Museum team

The Children’s Museum of La Crosse welcomes friendly volunteers, age 15 and older, who appreciate the power of play and enjoy interacting with children and families.  There are ongoing and special volunteer opportunities available on weekdays, weekends, and some evenings.  The Children's Museum is also a fun place for groups to volunteer together.

Current Volunteer Opportunities:

To sign up or ask questions, email info@funmuseum.org (include full name, contact information, desired shift and task/s.)

If you have performing, art, or science skills/interests and are willing to share some of your time and talent as a volunteer, please contact info@funmuseum.org about helping with summer day camps and/or a new STEAM Team program. We have opportunities from a few hours to multi-day commitments in planning and/or facilitating activities.

Summer Day Camps (8:30 to 11:30 am for 4-6 year-olds, 1:30 to 4:30 pm for 6-8 year-olds.) Volunteers will help lead activities and supervise campers. Performers are also welcome. Want to help plan the activities in advance? Let us know your ideas!

  • June 13-17: Camp PLAY. Campers will play games and make some of their own, make and try an obstacle course, and use their brains and bodies in other ways.
  • July 11-14: Camp CREATE. Campers will learn about and try different art techniques and use maker skills on other DIY projects to bring home.
  • August 15-18: Camp DISCOVER. Science experiments, space-themed projects, and more will ignite a spark of curiosity in each camper.

Volunteers make a BIG impact at the Children's Museum of La Crosse!

"I volunteered as a photographer on several occasions at the La Crosse Children's Museum during 2018-19 events. One thing that I noticed regularly was the amount of imagination that took place. I think in today's age of increasing entertainment through digital media such as TV and tablets, it is important to let your imagination run wild without the aid of a screen and the Children's Museum helps kids do just that." - Seth Polfus, volunteer
